Introducing the Third Party Billing Add-on: Streamline Your Billing Process

We’re excited to announce that the Third Party Billing Add-on is now available! This paid add-on is a great solution for companies that need to bill third parties—such as agencies, organizations, or sponsors—on behalf of families and independent students.

In this article, we’ll provide a quick overview of how to get started with the Third Party Billing Add-on.

Free Trial & Pricing

The Third Party Billing Add-on comes with a free 3-week trial, giving you plenty of time to explore its features and see how it can simplify your billing workflow. There’s no commitment during the trial—just a chance to test the functionality and determine if it’s the right fit for your business.

If you choose to continue after the trial, the add-on is available for just $5/month—a small investment for a tool designed to save time, reduce manual work, and streamline your third-party billing process.

Using the Third Party Billing Add-on

Enabling

The Third Party Billing Add-on is currently in early access, so to get started, you’ll need to reach out to our support team to activate the feature in your account. Once it’s been activated, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Account & Settings > Integrations & Add-ons
  2. Search for “Third Party Billing” in the search field
  3. Select “Enable” next to the add-on

Once enabled, a new Third Party Payors table will appear under Students > Third Party Payors.

Adding Third Party Payors

You can create Third Party Payor Profiles under the “Students” tab. If needed, you can also enable user accounts for Third Party Payors, giving them the ability to log in to Teachworks, view their invoices and payment history, and securely add credit card details—if you’re using the Stripe Integration.

Assigning Third Party Payors

Once a Third Party Payor has been added, you can assign them to a family or independent student by editing the relevant profile and scrolling to the “Third Party Payor Details” section. Here, you can select the appropriate agency, organization, or sponsor responsible for billing on the client’s behalf.

Invoicing Third Party Payors

When creating invoices for your customers, you’ll follow the same steps outlined in our guides: Creating a Single Invoice, Creating Multiple Invoices, and the Invoice Autopilot Add-on. Simply select the customer as usual—if a Third Party Payor is assigned to their profile, the invoice will automatically be billed to the designated payor.
