Exploring Teachworks’ Open Classes Add-on and Website Booking Plugin

Teachworks’ Open Classes Add-on is a great solution for tutoring companies that offer classes with multiple spaces, drop-in sessions, courses, or if you want students to join a lesson on a first-come-first-served basis. 

In this article, we’ll take a closer look at the capabilities of the Open Classes Add-on. We’ll also explore some additional options provided by the Website Booking Plugin.

The Open Classes Add-on

The Open Classes Add-on allows you to open up lessons for students to enroll themselves. 

Enabling & Setting Up

You can enable the add-on by going to the Integrations & Add-ons page in your Teachworks account. Once enabled, you’ll be able to customize the following settings:

• Enable Notification: When enabled, this setting will send an email notification to the company email address whenever a student joins a lesson.
• Join Course: This option will allow students to join a course of repeating lessons instead of a single lesson. Teachworks makes it easy to add courses and you can find more details here: Creating Courses
• Client Default Visibility: If this option is enabled, open classes will be displayed by default on family & student calendars. 
• Cutoff Time: This setting allows you to specify the number of hours before the start of an open class when students can no longer join.

Scheduling Open Classes

Once you’ve selected your settings, you can add open classes to the calendar by checking the “Allow students to join lesson.” checkbox when adding a lesson. If you would like to set a class limit, you can do so in the “Available Spaces” field.

Joining Open Lessons in Customer Accounts

Open lessons are displayed on student and family calendars in Teachworks. To join a lesson, they can simply click on a specific lesson and click the “Join” link in the pop-up.

Website Booking Plugin

The Website Booking Plugin makes it possible to add a booking solution to your tutoring website. In addition to booking lessons, customers can also join open classes and enroll in courses if you’ve enabled these options.  

The Website Booking Plugin can easily be used by existing customers, but it’s also a great solution for offering open classes to new customers, or customers that don’t have Teachworks accounts enabled.
