Your Guide To Optimizing Tutor Profile Photos In Teachworks 

Teachworks allows you to add profile photos for tutors directly to their profiles. These photos are displayed in the Employee List and on individual profiles. It’s also used for website integration features including the Website Profiles Add-on and the Website Booking Plugin.

In this article, we’ll provide tips on how to optimize tutor photos in Teachworks. We’ll also explain how to upload photos to profiles, and we’ll take a closer look at the Website Profiles Add-on and the Website Booking Plugin.

Image Specifications

Tutor profile photos should meet the following requirements:

• The photo should be square (for example 200px by 200px). Photos are displayed as a square in Teachworks and on the website integrations. Ensuring that photos are square will prevent images from looking stretched or pixelated. 
• It should be saved in .jpg or .png format.
• The maximum file size should be no more than 250kb.

If you’ve arranged professional headshots to be taken for your tutors, you may have large image files to work with. While 250kb might seem fairly small compared to these, rest assured that this restriction has been put in place intentionally to ensure fast loading times and better user experience in Teachworks and your website (if you’re using the Website Profiles Add-on or the Website Booking Plugin).

To get your files smaller, you can use one or a combination of the methods below:

1. Resize the photos: At a maximum, tutor profile images are displayed at 180px by 180px, so it is not necessary to upload photos much larger than this. 

2. Compress the photos: There are many tools available that you can use to compress images and reduce the file size. Websites such as tinypng.com make this process quick and easy.

How to Upload Tutor Profile Photos 

Once your photos have been optimized and meet the requirements in the section above, you can upload them to tutor profiles by following the steps below:

1. Go to Employees > Employee List
2. Click “Edit” in the relevant tutor’s row
3. Under “Profile Photo”, click the “Choose File” button to select the relevant photo from your computer

4. Save the form to complete the process

Tutors can also upload their own profile photos by navigating to the Profile tab in their account and clicking the “Edit” link.

Where Tutor Profile Photos Appear

Tutor profile photos appear when viewing the Employee List and individual tutor profiles. Additionally, if you’re using the Website Profiles Add-on and the Website Booking Plugin, photos will also appear on your website where you’ve added the code.

Website Booking Plugin: This add-on makes it possible to add a booking solution to your website to allow clients to book lessons, join classes or enroll in courses. If you have the booking option enabled, clients will be able to select a specific tutor and their profile picture will appear on this step.
