Boost Email Deliverability in 2024: A Quick Overview
Getting your emails to land in recipients’ inboxes is important for keeping your tutoring clients and tutors in the loop. Google and Yahoo are enforcing stricter email authentication rules in 2024, and this might make it more challenging to reach inboxes consistently.
Fortunately, by verifying your email and adding DKIM and Return-Path to your DNS records, you can improve deliverability and ensure smooth communication going forward. In this article, we’ll provide the steps you can follow to do this.
Verifying Email Addresses For Sending
Teachworks partners with Postmark, a leading email delivery service, for sending bulk and transactional emails like account confirmations, invoices, and reminders. Postmark ensures fast delivery and helps prevent emails from landing in the spam folder.
If you use a private email address for your tutoring business, you can verify your email address to ensure better deliverability by following the steps below:
- Go to the Account Settings page and scroll to the “Company Information” section
- You will see a blue box under the email field if the email address has not been verified yet
- Click the “View Details” link in the blue box and select the “Verify an Email Address” option
- Enter the email address and click “Verify”
- This will send an email to the email address entered – confirm the Sender Signature to complete the process

Adding DKIM and Return-Path to DNS
The next step is to add DKIM and Return-Path records to your domain’s DNS. You can follow the steps below to do this:
- Go to the Account Settings page and scroll to the “Company Information” section
- If you’ve completed the process in the section above, you should now see an option to add DKIM to DNS – click on this link
- If you have access to your DNS records, you can add the DKIM and Return-Path DNS records to verify your domain and ensure effective delivery. If you don’t have access, you may need to reach out to the person or company managing your email with this information.
- Once the records have been added, you can click the “Verify” buttons in Teachworks to complete the process.
- If everything has been set up correctly, and the changes have been applied, it will show as verified. If the message says it’s not verified, you may need to wait a bit and try again.
For further understanding of why these measures are important, check out this post on Gmail and Yahoo email requirements. We’d like to highlight that because Teachworks uses Postmark for sending, most of the new requirements are already taken care of. This means that you only need to complete the steps above to meet the requirements.
By verifying your email address for sending and adding DKIM and Return-Path to your DNS, you’re enhancing the credibility of your emails and ensuring they reach their destination without being marked as spam. It’s a simple process that can make a big difference in your email deliverability.
