Improve Deliverability with a Verified Email Address
A while back we added a “verified email address” feature to help improve deliverability and inbox rates for transactional emails that you send from your Teachworks account. This feature uses an email service called Postmark that carefully manages their reputation and focuses on reaching the inbox 100% of the time and delivering emails as quickly as possible. They even track and display their inbox rate and delivery times to major email providers here: https://status.postmarkapp.com/.
The Benefits of Verifying an Email Address
Verifying your email address is not required, but we highly recommend it. Taking this additional step will improve deliverability of your emails, which can benefit your education business in the following ways:
Reduce Unnecessary Work – If the recipient’s email provider incorrectly marks the email as spam, you may find yourself spending a lot of time on fielding enquiries. If a tutor’s payslip ends up in their spam folder for example, and they don’t check it on a regular basis, they will likely follow up with you to find out why they haven’t received it yet. In this situation, you would need to check the email logs to find out why the email was never delivered to them. This back-and-forth can chew up a lot of time that could be spent on other areas of your education business.
Get Paid Faster – When your invoice emails go directly to your clients’ inbox, they are more likely to pay faster and on time. If a client’s email provider incorrectly flags an invoice email as spam and sends it to their junk folder, they might not be aware that a payment is due until you follow up with them. Tracking down unpaid invoices and following up with clients can be unpleasant and time consuming.
Who Can Verify Their Email Address?
Only private email addresses (such as firstname.lastname@example.org) can be verified, so if you’re using a free email service, such as Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo etc. you will not be able to verify your email address for sending emails, but you can still continue to send emails from Teachworks.
How to Verify Your Email Address for Sending:
To verify your email address, you can follow these steps:
1. Go to your Account Settings page and click the “View Details” link that appears in the blue box under the “Email” field.
2. A popup will appear – select the “Verify An Email Address” option.
3. Add the relevant email address in the “Email Address” field and click “Verify”
4. An email will be sent to this email address and you will be prompted to confirm the Sender Signature.
